Overview: This four-week class taught by member Paul Young gives working musicians a full introduction to computer-based notation using the Finale program. Requirements:
• Attendees should have a working knowledge of music notation and computers.
• The first 12 attendees who sign up will have a guaranteed spot at one of the four computer workstations Local 47 supplies (you are invited to bring your own laptop if it is already equipped with Finale).

The idea of the Bass Club was originally founded by Gary Karr way back when and The L.A. Bass Club was one of the best. The idea of the Bass Club was to further the advancement of the Bass and to be a place where players could meet and exchange ideas with each other. It was the purpose to simply raise the standard of bass playing! It was a place where one could come and perform in front of his or her peers without fear of criticism, whether performing a new piece or just playing a solo in front of an audience.

Bass playing has come a long way since, and there are alot of great players, but the need to improve and to continue the evolution the bass, as a solo instrument or making the instrument more playable, is still important. So, bassist Tony Grosso is asking those of you who still have the interest in improving and helping to continue the advancement of the bass to come to this meeting in April and share your knowledege and skill with us.

We need bass players or their students to come and perform; we need speakers to discuss topics i.e. on auditioning, chamber music, jazz, opera, theater and so forth and we will have guest conductors and composers to add to our programs. Please let other bass players know of this meeting. If you are interested in playing or speaking, or to RSVP, email Tony Grosso.
